Frequently Asked Questions

What grind do you ship?

Every GoldSquare pack ships fine ground and filter ready — the correct grind for a traditional South Indian steel filter. We grind to order rather than offering a choice, because fine grind is what produces a proper thick decoction, and freshly ground beats freshly chosen every time.

What is the difference between 80/20 and 70/30?

80/20 is 80% coffee, 20% chicory — smooth, coffee-forward, modern. 70/30 is 70% coffee, 30% chicory — bold, traditional, deeply South Indian in character with a thicker mouthfeel.

Not sure? The Explorer Pack has both, so you can taste them side by side.

What are the pack sizes?

Each blend comes in a 200g pack, and you can buy a single pack or a multi-pack of 2, 3 or 5. Multi-packs save you between 5% and 12%, and all multi-packs ship free.

How long does the coffee stay fresh?

Our nitrogen-flushed packs hold peak freshness for 6 months unopened. Once opened, use within 3–4 weeks for best results. Store in an airtight container away from light and heat.

How many cups will one pack make?

At our recommended 20g dose, a 200g pack makes roughly 10 brews — about 20 cups of filter coffee with milk. That works out to around 300 cups per kilogram.

Where do the beans come from?

Our Robusta and Arabica come from the finest plantations in Coorg and Chikmagalur, Karnataka. Our chicory comes from Gujarat. Every ingredient is grown on Indian soil and roasted in India.

Do I need a special filter?

A traditional South Indian steel filter gives the best result and is what our grind is calibrated for. Our coffee also works well in a moka pot or French press, though you may want to adjust your dose.
