Brew Guide

From scoop to sip — two cups of Bhartiya Filter Coffee.

What you will need

  • 1 scoop (20g) of GoldSquare filter coffee — the scoop is in your pack
  • A traditional South Indian steel filter
  • 100ml hot boiling water
  • Hot milk (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)

1. Prepare the filter

Add one 20g scoop of GoldSquare coffee into the upper chamber of your filter. Level it gently — there is no need to tamp hard.

2. Add hot water

Pour 100ml of boiling water over the powder in slow circular motions. Close the lid and let it drip.

3. Collect the decoction

Wait 10–15 minutes as the decoction collects in the lower chamber. You are looking for a deep mahogany colour — that is when it is ready.

4. Mix and enjoy

Combine 20ml of decoction with 80ml of hot milk and sugar to taste. Or drink it black to find every origin note. For a traditional metre kaapi froth, pour between two tumblers from a height.

Pro tips

  • The 20g scoop is your baseline. For a stronger cup, increase the powder slightly rather than reducing the water.
  • The 80/20 is lighter with milk; the 70/30 is richer and stands up to more milk.
  • Reseal the pack tightly after every use and keep it away from light and heat.
